Special Operations Solutions, LLC (SOS), a minority-owned small business, has been awarded a prime contract with the Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to provide the wing life monitoring system for the NOAA WP-3D Hurricane Hunter aircraft.

The NOAA Hurricane Hunters are part of the Aircraft Operations Center (AOC), a branch of the NOAA Office of Marine and Aviation Operations (OMAO).  AOC aircraft fly across the United States and worldwide, providing airborne platforms essential to gathering environmental and geographic data for scientific research. The Hurricane Hunters fly over everything from oceans and wetlands to mountains and Arctic ice—even into the eyes of hurricanes—to support NOAA’s mission of understanding and better predicting environmental changes.

Under this contract, SOS will provide hardware, software, and engineering services to enable real-time aircraft and sensor data to support NOAA in the improvement of safety, operating efficiency, and training initiatives.
